A guide to feeding your Goldendoodle.

This page is packed with helpful information to answer all those common questions families have about feeding their puppies, from the moment you bring them home to their adult years.
The puppy stage.
Congratulations on welcoming your new fluffy family member!
To ensure a smooth transition, please continue feeding your puppy the specially formulated puppy food provided by us until they adapt to their new home, which usually takes about 1-2 weeks.
If you plan to change their food to a different brand, do so gradually by mixing in the new food over a 2-4 week period to prevent any upset stomachs.
We recommend Purina Pro Plan Sensitivities Puppy salmon and rice, Sensitivities Puppy turkey and oatmeal and Sensitivities Puppy lamb and rice formulas.
Now Fresh puppy formula, Fromm Heartland Gold puppy formula and All Life stages formulas, Farmina puppy and All life stages formulas and Open Farm formulas are all excellent choices as well.
Avoiding any formulas made with chicken is recommended.
During the first week or 2, I recommend measuring out your puppys' daily amount of kibble each day. That will allow you to use some of that kibble as a reward for going potty and/or for coming when called and will help to avoid over feeding which can cause an upset tummy. If your puppy does begin to have some soft poops then add 1/4 of a package of Forti Flora probiotics in each meal.
After your puppy has settled in and you want to use high value rewards, use a variety of single protein dehydrated treats. I don't recommend beef liver because it's very rich, high in copper and addictive.
Be careful not to give too many treats as they may cause an upset tummy.

Now that your puppy is ready for adult formulas.
Is your Goldendoodle ready to switch to and adult formula?
Once your Mini Goldendoodle is around 8-10 months, 10-12 months for larger mediums or standard sizes, it’s time to switch to an All Life Stages Formula or an Adult formula. We absolutely love Purina Pro Plan Sensitivities Salmon and Rice, Sensitivities Lamb and Rice and Sensitivities Turkey and Oatmeal formulas. For dogs who need a few extra lbs you can feed the 30/20 Sensitivities formulas.
Go Solutions Sensitivities, Farmina, Acana and Open Farms are fantastic for their limited ingredients and single protein options, making it super easy rotate proteins monthly and keep mealtime fun! Plus, you can explore other amazing options like Fromm, Now Fresh, Orijen, or even dive into a raw food diet—just be sure to do your homework and consult a raw food expert!
For those picky eaters, try toppers like Stella and Chewys freeze dried patties sprinkled over top, or a teaspoon of Purina Pro Plans canned Sensitivities formulas and warm water mixed into their kibble and/or some Omega 3 fish oil added to change things up a little in a healthy way.
It is normal for puppies as they get older to prefer 2 meals a day, rather than 1.
Bully sticks, collagen chews, dehydrated duck feet and raw bones are favorite treats that will last longer than a few seconds and are healthy for your dogs to have occasionally and remember to always supervise these.
We never recommend using Raw Hides, Dentastix or any grocery store dog treats. These will make your dogs ill.
Happy feeding!
